(IA)2 - Investigación y Aplicaciones en Inteligencia Artificial

Our research group, composed of faculty members and research staff from the Department of Languages and Computer Science at the University of Málaga, has been conducting research in various areas of Artificial Intelligence since the mid-1980s. We adopt an inter and transdisciplinary approach, consistently aiming to explore the potential of Artificial Intelligence techniques to address some of the challenges facing our society.

Our research, strongly application-oriented in nature, has focused on solving real-world problems in areas such as education, civil engineering, energy efficiency, sustainable and efficient mobility, architectural design, and urban safety. Our solutions range from classical expert systems to more advanced approaches that integrate multiple AI techniques.

Throughout its long history, the group has secured funding through competitive public R&D calls at the European, national, and regional levels, as well as through research transfer contracts with industry and service sectors. We are also recognized as research group TIC-135 under the Andalusian Plan for Research, Development and Innovation (PAIDI) of the Andalusian Regional Government.
